Learn the fundamentals of pottery on the wheel with this private 4-week beginner course. These one-to-one sessions are designed for complete beginners who want dedicated guidance while learning the essential techniques of wheel throwing.
Over four weekly sessions, you’ll be introduced step-by-step to working on the pottery wheel. You’ll learn how to prepare clay, centre it on the wheel, and begin forming simple shapes such as cylinders, cups, and bowls. As the weeks progress, you’ll build confidence and refine your skills, with plenty of time to practise and experiment.
With individual tuition throughout, each session is tailored to your pace, allowing you to focus on developing good technique and enjoying the process of making. You’ll also learn how to trim your pieces and decorate them using underglazes before they are glazed and kiln-fired.
All materials, tools, glazing, and firing are included. At the end of the course, you’ll have several finished ceramic pieces to collect once they have been fired.

Cancellation Policy
Please make sure you can attend the full course before booking, as fees are non-refundable once a course has started or sold out. We can only offer a full refund if you give at least one month’s notice or if we are able to find someone to take your place, so it’s important to let us know as soon as possible if you cannot attend.
We require a minimum of three people to run each group course. We reserve the right to cancel or make changes to any courses, workshops, or sessions. If we need to cancel, we will do our best to provide an alternative date, and if you are unable to attend, you will receive a full refund. In cases where a course date changes after the course has started, for example due to tutor illness or other unforeseen circumstances, we will make every effort to find a replacement date that works for everyone or make suitable arrangements directly with you.
