6-Week Beginners Wheel-Throwing Course

Over six creative weeks in my cosy studio, you’ll enjoy learning pottery in a small, supportive group of no more than four people — which means you’ll receive plenty of one-to-one attention throughout. We’ll explore the full journey of making ceramics, from shaping your very first piece on the wheel or by hand, right through to glazing and firing. Having your own wheel for every class ensures you can progress at your own pace, building skills and confidence week by week.

Along the way, you’ll master the basics of working with clay, including centring on the wheel and forming simple shapes like bowls and beakers.  As you progress, you’ll learn trimming (“turning”) to refine your pieces, and how to apply glazes to bring colour, texture, and personality to your work before it’s fired.

With our relaxed atmosphere and small group size, there’s plenty of time for questions, tailored guidance, and exploring your own creative ideas. By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of beautiful, unique ceramics to take home — and the skills to carry on your pottery journey with confidence.

Classes run every Tuesday evening, 6:30 - 8:30.

Cancellation Policy

Please make sure you can attend the full course before booking, as fees are non-refundable once a course has started or sold out. We can only offer a full refund if you give at least one month’s notice or if we are able to find someone to take your place, so it’s important to let us know as soon as possible if you cannot attend.

The 6-week course is designed to progress weekly, and missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or refunded, even due to illness, so please check your availability carefully.

We reserve the right to cancel or make changes to any courses, workshops, or sessions. If we need to cancel, we will do our best to provide an alternative date, and if you are unable to attend, you will receive a full refund. In cases where a course date changes after the course has started, for example due to tutor illness or other unforeseen circumstances, we will make every effort to find a replacement date that works for everyone or make suitable arrangements directly with you.
